Ignitable Liquid
Detection

Ignitable Liquid Detection handlers are trained to methodically work their K9s through fire scenes using the systematic approach of fire investigators. The K9s help reduce the overall time spent at the scene and assist in collecting precise evidence samples from the areas they indicate. This has significantly improved the success rates of positive lab samples.

Certification and Approach

The Ignitable Liquid Detection K9s undergo comprehensive training and are actively utilized in fire investigation scenes before being assigned to handlers. These K9s use the passive-alert method to avoid disturbing evidence before it is collected by a trained investigator.

Included in the price of the K9 is a two-week handler course offered in the Indianapolis, Indiana area. Additionally, all handlers must obtain annual re-certification through Jordan Detection K9.

Todd Jordan was very easy to work with, both over the phone and in person. His knowledge of K9 handling is second to none. Although I did not have any previous experience, he made sure I was learning the proper techniques. He also took the time to ensure I was proficient in beginner K9-handling skills prior to advancing further. K9 "URL" was already completely trained, saving me lots of valuable time. I would highly recommend Jordan Detection K9 to any agency seeking to incorporate a Detection K9 into their force.

How Our Program Began

Todd Jordan began his K9 career in 1997, working with an ignitable liquid Detection K9. By 2000, he trained his first official Ignitable Liquid Detection dog for the State Farm arson dog program. Since 2003, Jordan has been a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) through the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI). His career as a fire investigator spans both the public and private sectors, starting in 1992. Jordan has played significant roles within the Canine Accelerant Detection Association (CADA), serving on the Board of Directors and as the Chief Certifying Official. He trains and handles his K9s following the standards outlined in the NFPA 921 Guide to Fire Investigations. His expertise in Ignitable Liquid Detection K9 handling and fire investigation has been recognized in several state and civil court cases in Indiana, where he is frequently called upon as an expert witness. One of the few Certified Fire Investigators through the International Association of Fire Investigators involved in training and working with Ignitable Liquid Detection K9s, Jordan brings over thirty years of fire investigation experience and twenty-five years as a K9 handler and trainer. His extensive background allows him to impart practical, real-world knowledge from the fire scene to courtroom prosecution.
